I love my students! I love my library! I love the grade levels! I'm loving the teachers I work with. I'm loving the new learning I'm taking in. Although I've been a librarian for 10 years I feel like it's all new again and it's refreshing. I just really do love my job. Ok, I know, I'll shut up and stop with the lovefest now.
I recently attended our local Library conference held every year. This time I went with Middle School eyes/brain. I was focused on getting thoughts and ideas that would help my MS library. I was able to meet and listen to some wonderful authors.
Anyway, back to PLN's. If you know of some teacher/librarian blogs you like to read up on and keep track of, I highly recommend Bloglovin as one your "blog trackers". Bloglovin is a way to keep all of your blogs in one place and you can also discover new blogs out there you've never seen before. When they update their blog with a post, Bloglovin let's you know of their most recent post. Because let's face it, ain't nobody got time to be checkin' back every day to see if you've posted a new update!
I also attended a makerspace session. They had a bunch of cool ideas to have in your makerspace areas in your library and/or classroom. I fell in love with their 3D printer. Yes, I want one! Yes, I will get one some day!
And now that we're in October in our district we're celebrating "Overdrive October"!
Once again, the kids loved it! Of course they loved the Ipads. When I rolled out the cart they all clapped and cheered as if I had personally purchased the cart full of Ipads. And yes, of course, I took a bow! LOL!
Ever since introducing them, they have also been teaching me a couple of things on the Ipads! I know of some great apps for kids to add to them because of my students. That's the best part, I'm learning from them! That's a complete win-win, in my eyes!
Next on the agenda? Introduce the different library clubs...Library Crew, Book Club, Lunch-n-Listen, the Writing Knights, and yes, the ever anticipated, the Minecraft Club!
Wish me luck!
