I love the celebration of the HalloThanksMas holiday. Starting with Labor Day, my birthday weekend, and every holiday after that it simply is the best time of the year for me!
Fall also marks the start of another school year and the return to a job I absolutely love. Don't get me wrong, I love and cherish our sweet summer breaks and time with my little family but, unfortunately, our bank account does not overfloweth with the monetary green and we can't pay the bills on love. So, I have to work and, the way I see it if I have to work then I might as well do something I truly enjoy and love to do. So, of course, being a school librarian is THE best job ever!
Getting that reluctant reader excited for a book he actually did enjoy is just as exciting as getting my book clubbers excited about the next book in a really great series. Wheeling and dealing books to the kiddos truly is a highlight of my day. And I get PAID to do it!
But what I also love about my job is that every August I get to reboot. Every year I begin again, sort of. I can look back at the year before and assess what went great, what needs tweaking, and what needs to be added or deleted. Then when August rolls around I get to apply all that I learned from the year before. I really love that about my job. We get to reset and reload with a fresh new perspective!
This new school year I have a lot more to look forward to. I have a lot to add, tweak, and adjust in the library. I want to add author visits, skyping in the library, and oh getting knee-deep into that new-to-me secondary curriculum!
Bring it, 2015-16 school year!
