I'm always attracted to anything that has to do with the Holocaust. I think it's because it's so unimaginable, so incredible that such a horrific time existed and that people caused it all.
After putting down the book, the last line resonated with me long after closing the book.
"Wounds heal. Love lasts. We remain."
And Love played such an important part in this story as with many stories of survival and perseverance. Love got them through the separation, the camps, the torture, the persecution, and so much more. I'm sure, it was because of Love that their wounds were able to heal as well.
It was such a beautifully written story. Hannah is a great storyteller. When a book leaves me to still carry it in my heart long after I have shelved in away on my book shelf, I consider it a great read.
